Our world is full of messages, slogans, and phrases that all boil down to this:
“GET BUSY AND DO SOMETHING!”
The emphasis on taking action and achieving goals, missions, and such is almost palpable at times. Many fine motivational speakers (and you definitely should know how I view some of them) have created clever and impacting presentations, written books, and regularly remind us of how important it is to get moving and get ‘er done.
Then there are the quieter voices, like Susan Cain and her Quiet Revolution, the Mindfulness community in general and folks like Jon Kabat-Zinn and Michael Carroll in particular, along with many others who see value in quiet reflection. Continue reading
