Learning is Incurable …

i KNOW MY GENERATION CERTAINLY FELT THIS WAY …

MAYBE ITS BECAUSE WE HAVE COOLER HAIR WHEN WE ARE YOUNG …

If you have ever been a young person, or a parent, or an older person, you know the truth of this.  When we are young, we see the world through idealized eyes, with possibilities at every juncture.  We experience things for the first time, and because we are doing so, imagine that nobody has ever, in the history of the world, felt like this, at this intensity, with this depth.

As we mature, we learn about what being human is like, and because we are experiencing very common human thoughts and emotions, while engaging in very common human behavior … we are often amazed at our own abilities as a normal human being.

LEARNING AT ITS BEST IS MUCH LIKE BEING YOUNG …

… We experience the pure joy of considering two separate concepts together and start to understand how the two interact with each other to create a distinct other concept.

… We see how our ability to do and say things develops over time, sometimes crashing quickly forward, and other times leisurely strolling along, stringing chunks of information into coherent beliefs and values.

… We realize the growing capacities of our bodies and our minds, as we experience and do the things humans have experienced and accomplished from the beginning.

… and we make the same delicious and exhilarating mistakes, learn from those mistakes, and improve ourselves.

LEARNING IS AN INCURABLE, CONTAGIOUS, AND CHRONIC GENERATIONAL CONDITION.

By the way, just for the record: MY generation DID invent sex in the Heartland ….
